Photo from Pakistan tops Wiki Loves Earth contest 2015

Best international picture for the year 2015 - Lower Kachura Lake taken at Shangrilla resort, Skardu, Pakistan by Zaeem Siddiq

Wiki Loves Earth 2015 contest recently held was a unique and most hard to select the best photo of earth from photographers around the world. Around 9000 photographers shared approximately 100,000 photos to participate in the contest.

A jury of nine experienced judges from around the world were given the gigantic task of selecting the best of the best photos. A web tool was used to assist the judges to select the top best photos and the results were really stunning and amazing.

Best international picture for the year 2015 awarded by the judges was to Lower Kachura Lake taken at Shangrilla resort, Skardu, Pakistan. The photo was composed and shot by Zaeem Siddiq.

It may be added that from Pakistan alone, over 1500 people participated and submitted more than 11,000 photographs. Among these a total of 259 photographs were submitted to the international jury.

Some of the other top photos selected by the panel of judges are as under:

2nd Place. A view of the Laurisilva (laurel forest) of Madeira, Portugal by Jorge Nelson Alves 

8th Place. Cormorants at dusk on the pond of Etang de Vaccares, France by Didier Deveze 

9th Place. Limestone stalagmites inside the Anhumas abyss in Brasil by Caio Vilela
